Martin Coppack - Director, Fair By Design

Martin is the Director of Fair By Design with a background in consumer advocacy, grant-making and regulation, he has held a range of positions, all with the common objective of placing low income and vulnerable people at the heart of policy-making. 

Whilst at the Financial Conduct Authority he created its model for engaging with consumer groups as well as its consumer vulnerability programme, leading to nationwide changes for consumers. At the Big Lottery Fund he led the creation of its £31.7 million financial capability and inclusion programme.  

Martin is trustee of Young Scot and an adviser to the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute. He has been a Financial Inclusion Commissioner, a member of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada’s Consumer Protection Advisory Committee, a board member of the Association of Charitable Foundations, the Nationwide Foundation, the Institute of Consumer Affairs, as well as a Commissioner for Scope’s Commission on Extra Costs for Disabled People.

Camila Azevedo - Head of External Affairs, Fair By Design

Camila joined Fair By Design as Head of External Affairs in December 2022. Before joining, Camila worked in a UK professional membership body in women’s health, leading on external affairs activity to ensure Government, Parliament, media and partner organisations prioritised women’s reproductive healthcare in the UK.  

She has extensive international experience, having worked in communications, public affairs, media and policy roles in an international NGO, UN agency and private sector in Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and Scandinavia.

Maria Booker - Head of Policy, Fair By Design

Maria is an experienced policy and programmes management professional having started her career in the Department for Business and also having worked in the private and charity sectors on issues such as consumer policy, energy policy and social justice and human rights.

Maria joins Fair By Design from the human rights in childbirth charity Birthrights, where she was Programmes Director. She also chaired her local Maternity Voices Partnership for four years.  Maria is passionate about ensuring people with lived experience are involved from the outset in designing the outcomes that work for them.

Emily Wojcik - Project and Programme Officer, Fair By Design

Emily joined Fair By Design in October 2022. She previously worked as a Commissioner in Social Care for local government. Emily has also worked with a number of charitable organisations to ensure better outcomes and access to support for vulnerable people, including the management of the Essential Living Fund, targeting support to low-income families. Emily has a keen interest in social justice and looks forward to using her experience to deliver on the poverty premium.

Frankie Galvin - Public Affairs and Communications Officer, Fair By Design

Frankie joined Fair By Design from Sufra NW London, a food bank and community hub, where he worked as a Communications Officer. Prior to this he worked at the Equality Trust, working on their London Advocacy Project and Equal Pay 50 campaign. He has a long-standing affinity for the work of Fair by Design, having worked as an Intern at Barrow Cadbury when Fair by Design launched in 2018.

Kip Meek - Chairman, Fund

Kip is an Inquiry Chair at the Competition and Markets Authority, Chair of A Million Ads (an Ascension investee company) and a non-executive director of the Wireless Infrastructure Group. He is also the co-founder of the Communications Chambers, a network of senior communications industry professionals, providing public policy and strategic advice to the industry. He was previously a board member of Ofcom.

Jean de Fougerolles - Managing Partner, Fund

Jean has over 20 years of experience working and investing in technology businesses. He is a strong supporter of socially responsible businesses and has overseen investments into ventures ranging from a surplus food programme, to eyewear for the blind, a charitable giving start-up, and numerous EdTech ventures. Jean started his career as an economist at a number of non-profit NGOs in New York and also ran and exited a London-based tech start-up from 2000 to 2010. In 2012, he set-up Ascension Ventures and has gone on to invest in 100 early-stage tech businesses. Jean has a Masters Degree in Public Policy from Columbia University and an MBA from INSEAD.

Iulia Tudor - Portfolio Manager, Fund

Iulia manages the Fair By Design  portfolio, where she leads the work streams related to maximising the value-add to the portfolio and other stakeholders. She supports the portfolio companies build their fundraising strategies, connects them with potential customers and other partners within the network.

Emma Steele - Investment Director, Fund

Emma is FBD’s dedicated Investment Director. Emma joined from Eastside Primetimers, where she advised charities and social enterprises of various sizes and sectors on investment readiness and capacity building projects. Prior to that, Emma spent 5 years in Corporate Banking at Santander Bank. Emma has a Master’s Degree in Development Economics from the University of Sussex.
