Street UK has 6 branches covering the West Midlands region (Birmingham, Northfield, Coventry, Walsall, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton).
What problem are you solving?
We offer financial products and services designed to tackle financial exclusion and help people who are cut off from mainstream financial services such as Banks & Building Societies. Our customers have low income, poor credit, little to no savings and on occasions need to rely on credit to get by their day to day life issues or unexpected expenses.
By providing such products and services we help people to get access to affordable credit and improve their financial health. The alternative if we are not able to provide such services are expensive High Cost lenders such as payday and doorstep lenders.
How do you do this?
Customers can access our services via our retail branch network or our website. The final application and loan approval process is done in-branch. Loan applications are processed and determined on the same day, where a loan is approved monies are in a customers bank account within 24 hours.
What difference are you making?
The affordable credit we provide saves our customers money when compared to a High Cost lender. In addition the budgeting advice and support we provide helps customers to empower themselves to take control of their finances, address any adverse/bad debt issues and potentially access additional support/grants that they may be eligible for.
As part of our social impact monitoring, customers responded to a recent survey to state the following:
- 78% of our customers agreed that their loan with Street UK helped improve their credit score
- 3 in 5 customers agreed that street UK provided useful budgeting advice to help them manage their money better.
- 1 in 2 customers agreed that a loan with street UK reduced their level of stress and improved self-esteem.
To date we provided over £24m in affordable credit to over 51,000 individuals saving each one average £260 compared to a doorstep lender.
