Inclusive Design
Inclusive design is the practice of including people with lived experience of an issue in the in the design of products, services and policies.
What is inclusive design?
For essential services such as energy, credit, insurance and payments it means regulators, government and businesses making sure all consumers can access the products and services they need. It involves designing out barriers to access that create exclusion, inequality and unfairness in markets.
We work to include people with lived experience of issues within policy development and decision-making to deliver markets that work for all consumers.
To do this, we are partnering with The Poverty Alliance, a Scottish network of organisations and individuals working together to end poverty. The Poverty Alliance facilitates direct input into our work from people with lived experience.
This includes input on policy projects, consultations responses and help in communications. We have also previously worked with Toynbee Hall to bring the voices of those with lived experience of the poverty premium centre stage.
